New Office of National Statistics household figures just released show that the housing need for Waverley is much lower than previously thought – 27% less. The figures show that 3000 fewer homes are needed compared with the target imposed in Waverley Borough Council’s Local Plan. Planning consultants have fed the ONS figures into their calculations and come up with a handy map – that suggests Waverley, Guildford and Woking quotas over-provide development sites to build houses. Guildford Borough Council’s Local Plan is not adopted yet, so they have time to look again at their targets in the light of these new ONS figures.
